If you've been around the Internet for a while, you've probably seen your fair share of annoying, unwanted and irrelevant advertisements by now.
But at some point, maybe even just once, you've probably come across an ad that really caught your eye and piqued your interest. Maybe it was a funny video ad that you played, a banner ad for an exciting new deal you had never heard of, or a search ad that perfectly fit exactly what you were looking for...
Qwobl's goal is to do away with the former and get you access to more of the latter. The Internet shouldn't be like regular TV where everyone wants to just fast-forward through the commercial breaks; it should be more like the Superbowl! Qwobl hopes to identify and provide you ads you'll be happy you saw -- for what you want and what you're about.
Like most people, you would probably take a stranger's recommendations with a grain of salt. But if a good friend recommended something to you there's a good chance you'd listen. Why? - Because that good friend understands you. He or she knows what you like and what you're looking for.
Qwobl, in reality, is just one big recommendation engine. If we don't know you, our recommendations will never be much better than a stranger's. But if you allow us to get to know you, like you would a friend, then we can get better at providing you with recommendations that you will like -- ads about things that matter.
And just like you would get annoyed if a friend tried to pry too much into your personal life, we work very hard to make sure we don't infringe on your right to privacy. We follow NAI's Self-Regulatory Principals and give you the option to shut us out of your life completely. Yes, you'll hurt our feelings. Yes, the ads you see won't be as relevant as they would be otherwise. But if you really feel like our friendship won't be great -- that it isn't flourishing into something beautiful, then you can click here to opt out:
At Qwobl we're very sensitive to your personal and private data. If you would feel uncomfortable writing it on a piece of paper and not tearing that paper up, then we don't want anything to do with it. We never store or use sensitive information like your passport number, insurance plan numbers, or financial account numbers.
If you provide the data to us, one of our partners, or one of our clients or opt-in to have it used, we may use some Personally Identifiable Information (PII) like your name and your email address for recommendations. We consider this sort of information incredibly personal and have it protected with the appropriate security measures. We also will not sell your Personally Identifiable Information.
As you come in contact with our partners, our clients, and us across the Internet we will collect non-Personally Identifiable Information about you. This includes things such as your browser type (e.g., Safari or Internet Explorer), operating system (e.g., Macintosh or Windows), your Internet provider (e.g., Verizon or Comcast), your IP address, behavioral data (i.e., how you respond to ads), and psychographic data (i.e., you seem to like shoes). Like we mentioned before, by getting to know each other you're giving us the opportunity to deliver to you ads that you may actually enjoy. It also allows us to make sure we're not repeatedly bombarding you with the same advertisement.
Cookies are small text files that web sites place in your browser when you visit them or see an ad. When you return to the site or view another ad, a site can access these cookie files. Sites can then determine how often you've visited a site or seen an ad. Cookies cannot be used to access any other data on your computer.
Pixel tags are small images on a web page or other document. Pixel tags allow the operator of the web page or other document, or a third party who serves the pixel tag, to set, read, and modify cookies.
If you change computers or browsers, or use multiple computers or browsers or delete your cookies, you will need to repeat this process for each computer and in each browser.
If you choose to opt out using our opt-out tool, Qwobl will add a cookie to your browser identifying it as an opted out browser. This will prevent Qwobl's ad optimization system from using any behavioral data associated with your browser for targeted advertising.
We retain information collected via our technology for up to one year after a user becomes inactive. After one year of inactivity we discard Personally Identifiable Information.
Security is very important to us. We have implemented reasonable measures to protect the information we collect. No method protecting information is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Our products and services are designed for those 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13. If we are made aware that we have received such information, or any information in violation of our policy, we will use reasonable efforts to locate and remove that information from our records.
Some of our web site partners may place their own cookies on your Internet browser outside of our service; however, we have no access to or control over these cookies. In the event another company acquires all or most of our assets, all data compiled or owned by us may be among the items transferred in that transaction. In such event, all the data will continue to be governed by this Policy.
We may transmit or share our data with third-party service providers (e.g., data storage and processing facilities) in order for those service providers to perform business functions for us or on our behalf.
We may share, in an aggregated format, the non-Personally Identifiable Information we collect to do business with related third parties, such as our advertising clients.
We may disclose your information to third parties when we reasonably believe we are obligated to do so by law, and in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual prohibited activities, including but not limited to, fraud and situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person.
